Yellow shea butter and virgin shea butter

You may have heard a lot of shea butter and its cosmetic applications. If not, then here is the detailed information for you.

Shea butter is a moisturizer that can be used on skin and hair. It has high content of essential elements like moisturizing nutrients, vitamins A, vitamins E, and vitamins F, which are considered good for skin and hair. Shea butter is made from the nut of the Shea tree. In this process, the nuts of the shea tree are dried and then the flesh inside the nut is removed from the hard outer layer. The flesh is then grounded, roasted, then boiled in to get butter on top. That butter is called shea butter.

The shea butter comes in different forms and color depending upon its refined or unrefined status. The first kind of shea butter available for you is the yellow shea butter. Yellow shea butter is the raw or the original form of the shea butter. It may also have some strong odor because it is not treated or scented in any way. It may also contain some impurities because this form of shea butter is not filtered. Another shea butter for you is the white shea butter. White shea butter is not refined but is filtered through different stages so that there are no impurities left. The last type of shea butter for you is the pure white shea butter which is heavily refined and filtered and loses its vitamin content though it may have the moisturizing ability intact. The user can assess his need and can buy one accordingly.

The color of shea butter is the reflection of its quality. The virgin shea butter or untreated shea butter is known to have more healing properties as compared to the ones which are refined and filtered. The shea butter which is refined, may be treated with toxic chemicals and it also becomes nutrition less, this is why the experts believe that the raw form of shea butter must be used for application.

Virgin shea butter is anti-inflammatory, has emollient properties and anti-ageing properties. Yellow shea butter for face is better for treating the skin problems too because it has healing power. Refined shea butter may be impurity-less and may also have a pleasant smell, but its healing properties are questionable. To ascertain the quality of the yellow shea butter for face, you can look for a nutty smell and whether it is getting absorbed in the skin, etc.

You can apply unrefined shea butter on your face before going to sleep. You can also prepare shea butter mask by mixing it with some honey and applying for about 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water,
